|Announcing New Quit Smoking Clinic Partnership with Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit
The Haldimand War Memorial Hospital Quit Smoking Clinic is pleased to announce it is partnering with the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit. With this partnership, the HWMH Quit Smoking Clinic and the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit are can no longer offer no-cost nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in the forms of nicotine patches, gum or lozenges, but will continue to assist people to quit as well as try to connect them with resources for these products or others if needed.
The Quit Smoking Clinic will offer a multi-week program where clients will receive counselling and no-cost NRT. The clinics will be offered at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital on Tuesdays. The Health Unit also operates Quit Clinics in Caledonia and Simcoe. All Haldimand and Norfolk residents are eligible to come to the clinics. Individuals can book an appointment by calling 905-318-6623 Ext. 3278.
The Quit Smoking Clinics will help tobacco users create a personalized quit plan that identifies triggers and provides strategies to living tobacco free. Nicotine replacement therapy is used to minimize the withdrawal effects. Combining counselling and NRT improves a person’s chances of successfully quitting.
