Haldimand War Memorial Hospital has Shortest Emergency Wait Times
DUNNVILLE – Haldimand War Memorial Hospital has been recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Health (MOH) for the having one of the shortest Emergency Department wait times among low-volume community hospitals in the province. In a letter sent to the hospital earlier this summer, MOH assistant deputy minister Nancy Taylor noted that “Haldimand War Memorial Hospital’s performance was 3.2 hours below the hospital group average of 6 hours” in 2013. She added, “Thank you for your commitment to reducing provincial wait times and improving emergency care for the people of Ontario.” Haldimand War Memorial Hospital is in the top 10 per cent of low-volume community hospitals when it comes to the shortest Emergency Department wait times.
As a result of this performance, representatives of the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network will be/ have been in touch with the hospital to learn how other hospitals across the province can improve their Emergency Department performances.
“We’re delighted to be among the best hospitals in Ontario when it comes to wait times in our Emergency Department,” says hospital CEO David Montgomery. “Our medical staff and employees work very hard to provide timely, high quality patient care, and I want to thank them for this tremendous achievement.”
Montgomery says he expects emergency care at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital to get even better, once the new Emergency Department is built.
